PRP for Low Back Pain

Platelet rich plasma works well for a large percentage of low back pain patients. Most low back pain does not come from the disk as most people are lead to believe. In most cases the pain is actually being generated by damaged ligaments and tendons that hold the spine together. When using PRP to treat low back pain, injections are made into the supraspinous, intertransverse, and facet capsule ligament structures of the lumbar spine, and into the sacro-illiac, and illio-lumbar ligaments of the pelvis. These injections are repeated at 6 to 8 week intervals, and usually require 3 treatments on average, but ranges from 2 to 6 treatments, depending on the response of the individual.
